Kalivungan Festival- Lumba Sa Pulangi a Great Success

Last year it was name HINUGYAW. After amendments in the name of the festival in the province of North Cotabato it is now called KALIVUNGAN festival this year. The fest is full of different sports activities thru out the province.

Part of the sports that has been shown and shared by the locals in different municipalities is the LUMBA SA PULANGI(banca  race in pulangi river). The venue of the race was between the municipalities of Kabacan and Carmen; and the arena to view is the bridge in Brg Ugalingan.  It is not only a race but also a competition on the looks of the banca. It is participated from as far as bankero from Valencia and Arakan Valley.

As early as 7 in the morning people flank in the bridge and nearby area in Pulangi river. When I arrived participants are busy in registering. Banka are filed in line in the basketball court. All walks of life came to witness the event.

Every participants in the event received Php 500 automatically. And as high as Php 15,000 for the marathon race of 1.5 kilometer. To as low as Php 5000 for the individual race for the prices just for the event.

Security is provided by police from both municipalities of Kabacan and Carmen. And additional force from the Philippine military and from special force, particularly the diving force with their state in the art boat.

 Over all it was a great success, the 2^nd lumba sa Pulangi.
